Dave Eggers' new book is out this month in the US. It is a biographical piece of fiction based on a Sudanese refugee Valentino Achak Deng and his journey as a child to Ethiopian refugee camp. Heard a short interview with both of them on NPR Books and it sounds really amazing. There is also a more lengthy article on Salon.com entitled "Lost and Found".

Robert Olen Butler has just published a collection of short stories 244 words each about the last thoughts and recollections of people who have been decapitated.
DAMN! In second year university I wrote a short story about just that! It was a pretty badly written story... But isn't that funny.
